Guglielmo Villa is professor of History of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome, Department of History, design and Restoration of Architecture. His Scientific activity is predominantly focused on urbanism on the Italian cities in the middle age and on the operational practice and the theatrical elaborations in the sector of urban planning and military architecture between the middle and the modern age. He participated in a several national and international conferences, in particularly he supervised: the national conference Francesco di Giorgio Martini: Rocche, città, paesaggi (Siena 30-31 maggio 2002); the study of La città europea: temi e modelli, in onore di Enrico Guidoni (Roma, 23 novembre 2007); the national conference Pier Francesco da Viterbo e l’architettura militare italiana del primo Cinquecento (Roma – Viterbo 22-23 novembre 2008); the conference La costruzione della forma. Architettura dell’Italia medievale (Roma, 22-25 maggio 2017). He was editor of the magazine «Storia dell’Urbanistica», founded by Enrico Guidoni. Currently he is a member of editorial staff of the magazine «Quaderni dell’Istituto di Storia dell’Architettura».
