Was born in 1971, in Anyang, Henan Province. He graduated from the Department of Cultural Heritage and Museology, Fudan University in 1996 and was granted a Master’s Degree in History. In the same year of graduation, he started his career in Shanghai Museum where he has worked in the department of exhibition and department of ceramics research. He was the deputy chief and, then the chief of the department of exhibition. He was appointed the director of Shanghai Museum in 2010. From June 2010 to June 2013, he took part in the sixth Shanghai working team aiding Tibet as the deputy director of the Shigatse Regional Bureau of Culture, Tibetan Autonomous Region. From February 2014 to February 2015, he served the temporary position as the assistant director and chief of the department of exhibition at the Palace Museum. He is now the deputy secretary general of the Chinese Society for Ancient Ceramics, chief supervisor of the Shanghai Museums Association, vice chairman of the Special Committee of Museums Along the Silk Road of the Chinese Museums Association.
